Aberdour
is a much sought after seaside location in Scotland with a great selection of interesting
local shops, superb award winning beaches, the famous
Aberdour Castle
and is just a 35 minute drive North of Edinburgh over the Forth Bridge. The village
is also served by excellent bus/train links, as well as a close proximity to the
M8 and the M90 North.
Aberdour is an ideal location for visiting
Edinburgh
- 35 minutes by rail (the station is 150 metres from the hotel).
Aberdour can be walked around in a couple of hours. Take the Fife Coastal Path from
the train station to the idyllic Silver Sands beach, then proceed to head West towards
the Black Sands beach and picturesque harbour. Cut up the steep Shore Road and you'll
arrive in the historic and rustic heart of the village, complete with friendly pubs,
restaurants and unusual boutique shops.
Aberdour Railway Station
Aberdour Railway Station is a beautifully kept and cared for example of a traditional
station, and regularly wins the "Best Station and gardens in Great Britain" award.
A very good bus service runs to Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy where links are available
to Edinburgh and Glasgow. Bus tours to the Trossachs, the Highlands and some West
Coast resorts can be taken from these stations if the mood takes you.
