Aberdour is a much sought after seaside location in Scotland with a great selection of interesting local shops, superb award winning beaches, the famous Aberdour Castle – and is a 35 minute drive North of Edinburgh over the Forth Bridge. The village is also served by excellent bus/train links, as well as a close proximity to the M8 and the M90 North.
An ideal location for visiting Edinburgh, 35 minutes by rail (the station is 150 metres from the hotel).
Aberdour can be walked around in a couple of hours - take the Fife Coastal Path from the train station to the idyllic Silver Sands beach, then proceed to head West towards the Black Sands beach and picturesque harbour. Cut up the steep Shore Road and you'll arrive in the historic and rustic heart of the village - with friendly pubs, restaurants and unusual boutique shops.
Aberdour Railway Station is a beautifully kept and cared for example of a traditional station, and regularly wins the "Best Station and gardens in Great Britain" award.
A very good bus service runs to Dunfermline and Kirkcaldy where links are available to Edinburgh and Glasgow. Bus tours to the Trossachs, the Highlands and some West Coast resorts can be taken from these stations if the mood takes you.
Superfast ferries
The Rosyth terminal for the Rosyth to Zeebrugge ferry service is only 20 minutes by car from the Aberdour hotel making the hotel an ideal stopover point for those arriving or leaving Scotland. Rosyth is also the location of the Royal Dockyard which is operated by Babcock Thorn. Rosyth Royal Dockyard is responsible for Royal Navy ship refitting and maintenance. The hotel accommodation is ideally located for contractors and Royal Navy personnel when operating at Rosyth Dockyard.
